About Me

Patrick Gavin

I have myself suffered Depression and poor Mental Health in the past, and am in the position of knowing personally what my clients are going through.  But I got the help I needed and now I offer it to those who are still suffering.

I have studied my craft over 20 years and have worked extensively in mental health and private practice.  I studied at the Dublin Business School, achieving a BA (Hon’s) in Counselling and Psychotherapy. I then went on to get the Advanced Diploma in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, as well as Advanced Diplomas in Life, Executive, Mental Health and Wellbeing Coaching.  I am an accredited therapist with the Irish Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (MIACP).  As per the requirements for Accreditation with the IACP, my Professional Development is an ongoing piece of work. It is a never ending Journey. A journey I enjoy daily.

As a faculty lecturer with PCI College and formerly with ICHAS, Limerick I have helped train many other Therapists. Doing this gave me the opportunity to engage with students who are learning to help others. Again, teaching people to become therapists gives me the opportunity to develop new ways of working with clients, exploring how to enhance best practice and improve services to my clients. All these experiences have given me the knowledge and skills to adapt to the individual needs of the clients. I have developed a skill set over 20 years which uniquely positions me to offer a varied menu of counselling approaches tailored to individual needs.

This website is designed to give you simple yet appropriate information to allow you to assess my qualifications and experience. It is an opportunity for you to make an informed decision as to the suitability of my skills.  I am always open to talk about how things can change and seeing if I can help you.

"No matter how much I study or how many courses I take, I find that I learn much more from working with people one to one in therapy. I learn something new from every session with every client. Life experience is, in my view, the greatest teacher of all."
